Anthony Berry on 09 February 2011 11:42 Dear Mr Murray I would like to thank you Mr Murray and your team in the Vascular Department of the MRI Manchester for giving me an extension to my life which I may not have had if it wasn't for my operation. I am 74 years of age and I went to my doctors because I wss having problems with pain in my back. I was sent for a scan to check for Arthritis. The scan was looked at the same day by the radiologist that noticed I had an abnormality in my abdomen. In my understanding the radiologist immediateley got in touch with Mr Murray who rang my doctor the same day. My doctor rang me later the same day and asked to see me. On arriving I was told by my GP that they had found an Aortic Annurism it was 6cm in diameter which I was told needed to be dealt with as soon as possible. I was given an appointment to see Mr Murray. When I attended he immediately put me at ease I felt comfortable in his presence. He told me excactly what was wrong and the proceedure to correct it. My proceedure was carried out under an epidural and I was awake during the proceedure. During this time the team talked to me and I was aware what was going on the whole time. I didnt find it stessful at anytime during the proceedure. In fact I found it to be facinating. I was in hospital a total of three day where I was looked after by the nursing staff with several visits from Mr Murray. I was able to look after myself within a week of being discharged. I cannot stress enough the thanks and admiration to Mr Murray and his hard working team for looking after me. Thank you once again. With kind regards Anthony Berry (Tony)
